Hi Everyone

We are on a 6 week trip of a lifetime visiting Singapore (2 nights), Perth (5 nights), Melbourne (4 nights), touring the South and then the North Islands of New Zealand for nearly a month, finishing with 3 nights in Hong Kong.

A wonderful opportunity to take photographs of so many contrasting cultures and landscapes. We would like to share a selection of images we have taken along the way on our Nikon D7000 and D800 cameras. We hope you enjoy them and continue to follow us on our adventures.

(The most recent post will be the first you will see so by working backwards and through the 'older posts' you will get to the beginning of the trip. Posts will be added when we get the selected images processed and internet access).

Weather permitting you can go to an observation area on the roof of the museum. If it had not been so overcast this viewpoint would have provided good views over the town of Rotorua and Lake Rotorua. The lawns in front of the museum are mainly bowling greens.

When the building was a nightclub a mezzanine floor had been added in to provide a dance floor. This was removed when the museum was created and the previous atrium restored.

Perfect light made this a very attractive building to photograph. This building was originally a bathhouse opened in the very early 20th century by a British doctor who promoted the use of the local mineral waters to treat skin diseases and arthritis. This sculpture is by a local artist. The male and female figures were inspired by the people of Rotorua and the rich melting of the Maori and European cultures. We never actually saw anyone that looked like this in Rotorua so we used our imagination.

Not as high as the gondola ride in Queenstown but it has three different luge rides at the top. Done that so not doing it again. The lake in the distance is Lake Rotorua.

Mud Pool, Wai-o-Tapu

Outside the main thermal park is a mud pool that spits and plops constantly. Just for looking at mind you not for stepping in as all the warning signs are displayed. There are SPAs where you can go for mud baths and they do a line of Rotorua mud face masks and other related products. Alan said I should skip the mud and go straight for the poly fill...
