Hi Everyone

We are on a 6 week trip of a lifetime visiting Singapore (2 nights), Perth (5 nights), Melbourne (4 nights), touring the South and then the North Islands of New Zealand for nearly a month, finishing with 3 nights in Hong Kong.

A wonderful opportunity to take photographs of so many contrasting cultures and landscapes. We would like to share a selection of images we have taken along the way on our Nikon D7000 and D800 cameras. We hope you enjoy them and continue to follow us on our adventures.

(The most recent post will be the first you will see so by working backwards and through the 'older posts' you will get to the beginning of the trip. Posts will be added when we get the selected images processed and internet access).

Enjoy !

Fiona and Alan

Well folks this is the last post from Hong Kong and on our blog site. We have had a fantastic trip and stored up so many memories. We hope you have enjoyed our blog charting our adventures. It only contains a small selection of the photographs we took but if you have a spare 3 months we'll show the other 4,000. We also have a library worth of touri...

Afternoon Tea in the hotel

May 05, 2013  •  Leave a Comment
We decided since it was our last day we would treat ourselves to afternoon tea in our hotel (Eaton Smart, Kowloon). A photo for the blog, yes that would be good. Just as I was taking it this we chap got in on the action but he didn't get a cake he would need to have wrestled Alan for that!

Do you want the goose, the whole goose and nothing but the goose? Well no option they deep fry the whole goose as this stall in the food court shows. Every second shop had similar goosed goose's hanging up in the window. Enough of the goose, moving on.......

Fast Food Court off Nathan Road, Kowloon

May 05, 2013  •  Leave a Comment
What looks like a makeshift tent was a popular food court used by the local people. The Chinese believe in cooking fresh food hence the fish, crabs and other seafood are swimming in buckets and tanks ready for use. No Birdseye Fish Fingers here.

Just one street back and parallel with Nathan Road - the big shopping area in Kowloon- are where the local people live and work. It was fascinating to see the difference.

Skyscrapers and construction, Hong Kong Island

May 04, 2013  •  Leave a Comment
More skyscrapers are under construction and improvements to the road network. You will maybe recognise the building in the middle with it's zig zag pattern from the night scenes. The land is at a premium so the only option is to build upwards and improve the road network and extend the subway to move people about as efficiently as possible.

'Big' Apple, Hong Kong Island

May 04, 2013  •  Leave a Comment
On disembarking the ferry on HK Island a footbridge takes you into a shopping centre attached to the International Finance Centre. This is probably one of the biggest Apple stores we have ever seen and there was a queue to go in.

Star Ferry, Victoria Harbour, Kowloon

May 04, 2013  •  Leave a Comment
This is one of the famous Star Ferry's that takes passengers between Kowloon and Central Pier, Hong Kong Island every 10 minutes. It is ridiculously cheap - even at public holiday rates it was something like 60 pence return for a 10 minute crossing. We only had one day in which to do this crossing and it was raining but we couldn't go to Hong Kong...

Photography Exhibition, Cultural Centre, Kowloon

May 04, 2013  •  Leave a Comment
Whilst sheltering from the rain we came across this exhibition by students on the Professional Diploma Programme in Creative Photography, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Alan and his fellow students did something similar last year in Braehead at the conclusion of his course so we took a keen interest. The standard was very high and diverse. We...

Peninsula Hotel, Kowloon

This is meant to be either the best or one of the best (depends what magazines you read) hotels in the world. It is famous for its green Rolls Royce's which are parked at the front. We just window licked as usual.
