Hi Everyone
We are on a 6 week trip of a lifetime visiting Singapore (2 nights), Perth (5 nights), Melbourne (4 nights), touring the South and then the North Islands of New Zealand for nearly a month, finishing with 3 nights in Hong Kong.
A wonderful opportunity to take photographs of so many contrasting cultures and landscapes. We would like to share a selection of images we have taken along the way on our Nikon D7000 and D800 cameras. We hope you enjoy them and continue to follow us on our adventures.
(The most recent post will be the first you will see so by working backwards and through the 'older posts' you will get to the beginning of the trip. Posts will be added when we get the selected images processed and internet access).

En route to Paihai in the Bay of Islands (Northland) we stopped for lunch in Whangarei's Town Basin, which is located alongside the wharf. Nice place for a stroll and plenty of cafe/restaurants to chose from.

The plan had been on leaving Rotorua to drive to Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove on the Cormandel Peninsula and stay overnight somewhere outside Auckland to break up the long drive to the Bay of Islands. Maori Stage Performance, Tamaki Village

This was the end of the staged performance. We then had a 'hangi' cooked food - this is the traditional Maori way of cooking food in baskets below ground on pre-heated flat stones. The baskets are covered in matting then earth and left for about 2 - 3 hours. Our feast comprised of lamb, chicken, potatoes, kumara (sweet potatoes), carrots, stuffing...

A stage performance including singing and traditional Maori dances followed the 'games' and this is part of the haka that was performed by the Big Man and his fellow Maori's.

We went to a Maori cultural evening at Tamaki Maori Village. Transported to the venue in an old bus along with another 8 nationalities, we were briefed on the 'do's' and 'don'ts' to ensure we respected the Maori culture. Returning home to the golf season so have to keep our hands in. This is the 9 hole Government Gardens course, which is in the vicinity of the Rotorua Museum and borders Lake Rotorua. We ended all square after 18 holes - friendly game (but only because we are on holiday!)

This was the best thing about our accommodation in Rotorua (BKs Motor Lodge): two reclining armchairs. Add to this a flat screen TV and Sky movies, then you've got the perfect 'chill-axin' package after a heavy day sightseeing.
