Hi Everyone

We are on a 6 week trip of a lifetime visiting Singapore (2 nights), Perth (5 nights), Melbourne (4 nights), touring the South and then the North Islands of New Zealand for nearly a month, finishing with 3 nights in Hong Kong.

A wonderful opportunity to take photographs of so many contrasting cultures and landscapes. We would like to share a selection of images we have taken along the way on our Nikon D7000 and D800 cameras. We hope you enjoy them and continue to follow us on our adventures.

(The most recent post will be the first you will see so by working backwards and through the 'older posts' you will get to the beginning of the trip. Posts will be added when we get the selected images processed and internet access).

Eglinton Valley - on the way to Milford Sound

The 2 hour drive from Te Anua to Milford Sound is spectacular so give yourself plenty of time to include photo stops.

Kawarau Gorge & Gold Fields Mining Centre

As you can see from this image the water here is emerald in colour. A bridge takes you over to a tourist attraction which includes jet boating and a tour of the gold fieds in this area with an opportunity to pan for gold. A waterfall called 'Roaring Meg' is also here and 'Roaring Meg' wine is produced nearby (rather nice actually). Didn't have too...

This was just to show you the pampas grass that grow wild everywhere on the South Island unlike Scotland where you have to plant them in a sunny sheltered spot - aye, like that's easy to find!

Cromwell, Central Otago, South Island

We've left Twizel and are on our way to Te Anua. On the way we stopped in for lunch at Cromwell and we visted a relatively new tourist attraction which replicates buildings in Old Cromwell town at the end of the 19th Century. It was quite tastefully done although we didn't know they sold pizza's way back then.......always learning!

Suspension Bridges - Hooker Valley

There are two suspension bridges to traverse to reach the Hooker Glacier. The first one was quite solid, the next one was very bouncy and with the wind it was like being on the set of Twister (David you would have hated it). You can see the clay coloured water we were talking about here.

Hooker Valley - when it stops raining

The water was a milky blue colour at the lower stages and clay coloured nearer the mouth of the glacier.

Hooker Valley - Icebergs !

Yes......icebergs that had broken off from a glacier further up the Hooker Valley. This was the first time we had seen icebergs other than on the telly so the fact that we were cold and wet was forgotten about (momentarily - the drive back to the motel sitting on a plastic bag brought it back), Before you ask.... no there were no polar bears or ext...
