Hi Everyone

We are on a 6 week trip of a lifetime visiting Singapore (2 nights), Perth (5 nights), Melbourne (4 nights), touring the South and then the North Islands of New Zealand for nearly a month, finishing with 3 nights in Hong Kong.

A wonderful opportunity to take photographs of so many contrasting cultures and landscapes. We would like to share a selection of images we have taken along the way on our Nikon D7000 and D800 cameras. We hope you enjoy them and continue to follow us on our adventures.

(The most recent post will be the first you will see so by working backwards and through the 'older posts' you will get to the beginning of the trip. Posts will be added when we get the selected images processed and internet access).

Wall of Glacier Ice

Glacier Valley - Fox Glacier

At one point the Glacier filled this valley and there are striation marks are on the rock face where it forced its way through. The meandering stream is the melting glacier water.

Fox Glacier

Like all the worlds glaciers, Fox Glacier is receding at a fast rate and sections can break off at any time. Hence access to the glacier is strictly controlled and warning signs of rock slides are in abundance due to the the frequent falls of scree from the surrounding mountains. Fox Glacier Pathway

Someone - we wish we could remember who - said that you could see Fox Glacier from the car park. Aye, combined with a 30 minute hike up this pretty steep uneven path. But we made it and although the light was fading it was incredible to get as close as 200 metres to the glacier.

Riverbed stones

This is an example of the moraine that is washed down by the glacier water and sits on the river beds. Like fingerprints we doubt any two stones have the same pattern.....it was also an opportunity for Alan 'arty farty' shot.

Roaring Billy Lake

After about a 20 minute forest walk we came out at the river bed and lake where Roaring Billy Waterfall flows into. This is the true colour of the water no photoshop was involved...... 'look at the colour of that water' was an oft said phrase.

Rainforest Haast Pass

The mountain range that goes through the middle of the South Island results in rain forests on the west coast and more typical forests on the other side. The contrast is quite remarkable.

I asked Alan to give me a hand - very funny Alan! We stopped in Wanaka for lunch and while it is referred to as Queenstown's little cousin, we thought it was a bigger version of Te Anua. Would like to have spent more time there but we had to press on.
