Singapore - The Famous Merlion

We first visited Singapore 20 years ago but it has changed considerably since then. It is so modern and clean although some describe it as being sterile compared to other parts of Asia. It is called the 'fine' city due to the propensity to be fined for jay walking, disposing of gum on the pavement, litter, however, whatever they are doing to keep their city litter and graffiti free it is working.

We arrived in Singapore minus a suitcase - thanks Terminal 5 Heathrow Airport. Just as well I split up all the clothes so it wasn't as big a disaster as it could have been although we didn't get reunited with our case until the second day in Perth. Thank goodness the fashion police were not in around !

It was very hot and humid when we were there and since we were only there for 2 nights we took a 1/2 day guided city tour on the first morning to get orientated. The iconic Singapore Merlion was the first stop, followed by stops at the Thian Hock Keng Temple in Little China, the Botanic Gardens, Little India and a gem factory (there's always a gem factory...... !).
